Democrats in Congress Seek to Weaken SCOTUS

This week, media outlets reported rumors that Democrats in Congress had a plan to increase the number of justices from nine to thirteen. The rumors turned out to be true.

On Thursday, April 15th, prominent Democrats including the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Jerry Nadler, provided their unyielding support for adding seats to the US Supreme Court. Some Democrats fear that the current majority of justices on the Supreme Court will rule Biden's future executive orders as unconstitutional. The Supreme Court of the United States consists of justices that both Republican and Democrat Presidents have appointed. Members of Congress have a controversial and contradicting past when it comes to the Supreme Court.

Democrats in the House are attempting to dilute the most sacred branch of government. If an unprincipled bicameral majority that displays full-throttled contempt for our institutions and founding documents allows the President to weaken the Supreme Court by adding 50% more Justices, checks and balances disappear. If the Senate majority is radical enough to stack the Supreme Court, they're radical enough to vote to confirm the most staunch leftists in the party. If President Biden appointed members of his own family to the highest court of the land, I would expect the radicals in the Senate to vote to confirm. When a president can expand the court and customize it to their set of "values," the Supreme Court becomes nothing more than an illusion.

It's frightening that Speaker Pelosi plans to retire in 2022. She has nothing to lose and would like her agenda fulfilled. Pelosi would never support this legislation if she planned to stay in the House-- it would limit the power of Congress. The President would have no restrictions on their executive orders because the same ideology that possesses the President would also possess the politicized and personalized Supreme Court.

Customizing the Supreme Court would set a terrible precedent. The Democrats plan to expand the court by four seats, but just one seat would set the stage for the destruction of the court. The left has a strategy where they put out plans that equate to Das Kapital, automatically making anyone that isn't an outspoken Socialist a so-called "moderate."

Western civilization is headed down the path of totalitarianism. The only force protecting this country is the Constitution, and a well-intentioned interpretation of the document is vital.
