Trump's New Social Media Platform
10/20/2021

Former President Donald Trump announced late Wednesday night that he plans to unveil a social media platform in November. The announcement comes as massive media corporations such as Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook purge dissenting voices in an apparent attempt to stop "misinformation."

In January of 2021, several major social media companies banned then-President Trump from their platforms, citing unfound claims that he incited a riot at the Capitol; the President was later acquitted. Many voices on the right have spoken out against Twitter's decision to permanently ban the former President while allowing the Taliban's official account to remain active.

The social media platform TRUTH Social will be exclusive to invited guests until early next year. TRUTH Social describes itself as "America's 'Big Tent' social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology." The platform will seek to grow a town square for dissenting voices that Big Tech has censored.

The Trump Media & Technology group will be funded via SPAC (NASDAQ: TMTG) and displayed on SEC.gov on Thursday, 10/21/2021. The company will be chaired by President Trump and headquartered at Trump's Mar-A-Lago club.
